Two QUICK tips to alleviate STRESS

Two QUICK tips to alleviate STRESS

We all experience STRESS from time to time. It can actually be beneficial for us in certain acute (short-term) circumstances .. stress can help us perform optimally both physically & mentally. It can help us focus, provide a burst of energy & be good for our immune systems (to combat bacterial or viral infections).

But even acute stress can feel debilitating at times. And chronic (long-term) stress changes the size & structure of our brain; increases the likelihood of heart disease; can effect brain function; impacts learning ability & memory; can lead to depression & anxiety; increases the chances of developing Alzheimers; causes & exacerbates inflammation; can increase the chance of dormant cancer cells re-awakening after treatment.

That's not a wish list I'd like to create for my future health! So, if we want to prevent chronic stress, we need to address acute stress.

So, here's two incredibly quick, in the moment, tools that can help :-

1.Physiological Sigh

This is the fastest method to calm your system down!

Simply do a double inhale through your nose (the first breath in will be longer, the second much shorter) & then exhale through your mouth (for a longer duration than the inhales) whilst making an audible sigh.

2.TFT Tapping

Tapping these spots 10-15 times with two or three fingertips can reduce stress & general anxiety within minutes.

You can tap both sides of your body simultaneously, or just one, whichever feels most comfortable for you.

Eye - under the eye, at the uppermost point of your cheeks

Arm - under the arm, 3-4inches down from the central armpit

Collarbone - 1inch down & then 1inch across from the notch at the bottom of your neck

Tap this sequence - Eye, Arm, Collarbone - 10-15 taps on each spot, before moving onto the next spot & then assess whether your stress has reduced. Repeat until your level has diminished or disappeared.

And before you start thinking ... "They both sound too easy to be effective at reducing anything!" ... just give them a try. I promise you won't be disappointed!

And WHAT IF ... they actually work?!?! WHAT IF?
